What is silk chiffon?
Silk chiffon is 100% silk, woven loose and fine so it's sheer and nearly weightless. It flows and moves when worn, and light passes through it.
What is silk-wool?
Silk-wool is a blend of 70% wool and 30% silk in a herringbone weave. It's opaque, soft, and warmer than chiffon, with a visible texture up close.
Is silk chiffon see-through?
Yes. That's the point of it. Worn at the neck or over the shoulders, the color glows rather than sitting flat.
Which fabric is warmer?
Silk-wool. The wool holds heat, so it works as a real layer in fall and winter. Chiffon is better for spring, summer, and indoors.
Is silk-wool itchy?
The silk makes the blend softer than plain wool. Most people wear it against the neck comfortably. Very sensitive skin may prefer chiffon.
Which fabric drapes better?
Chiffon drapes lighter and moves more. Silk-wool drapes heavier and holds its shape, which is why it works well wrapped around the neck or over a coat.
Do the colors look different on each fabric?
Yes. The same artwork reads brighter and more luminous on chiffon because light passes through it. On silk-wool, colors look deeper and more solid.
Which is better for everyday wear?

Does jewelry snag either fabric?
The silk-wool weave is loose and delicate, and rings, bracelets, and earrings can catch on it. Take care putting it on and off. Chiffon is less likely to snag.
How do you care for each fabric?
Both are dry clean only. For a softer look, either can be carefully hand washed in cold water and dried flat. Chiffon won't bleed.
Which fabric makes a better gift?
