How Many of Each Design Do I Make?
Not many. Each design is printed in small runs, usually 10 to 20 scarves at a time.
Here's why. Every design starts as an original artwork: tea steeped, arranged and dried by hand on paper. That artwork is one of a kind. I photograph it, and the photograph is what gets printed on silk.
I print in small batches because I'm one artist running the whole business. It keeps each design from showing up everywhere, and it lets me pay attention to every scarf that goes out.
It also means you're unlikely to walk into a room and see someone wearing the same scarf.
Every order over $50 also comes with an original 4 by 6 inch tea print on paper, signed and dated by me. That piece really is one of a kind.
