What to Wear With a Sweater Dress Besides Jewelry
A sweater dress is simple by design. It needs one thing to finish it, and that thing doesn't have to be jewelry.
A scarf does more. It adds color and pattern near your face, the way a necklace would. It also keeps you warm on the walk to dinner, which a necklace never will.
The scarf I reach for is an oversized silk-wool square, 52 by 52 inches. Draped over the shoulders, it reads almost like a second layer. Wrapped once at the neck, it frames the face. Worn loose and open, it moves when you walk.
The Rare Earth design comes from an original artwork I made by drying tea on paper. The colors are rust, slate and cream. They sit easily next to the browns, blacks and deep purples most sweater dresses come in.
